Moore River  (Guilderton) - Sunday Paddle and  BBQ - 27 Nov 2005

The plan is for a club paddle on Sunday 27 November.
Meet at 9.15 am for a 10.00 am departure.   Drive up that morning or come
up Saturday and camp overnight  (only a few camping places available) .
Exact meeting place to be advised.

The Paddle:  About a 12 km paddle on the Moore River.  Starting in Guilderton
we'll paddle upstream for 6km where we'll stop for morning tea at a picnic
spot by the river.  Then paddle back again.

BBQ:   Following the paddle we'll have a BBQ lunch at a nice spot by the river in Guilderton.

Location:    Guilderton is about 100 km north of Perth on the coast at the mouth of the Moore River.

Boats:  Finn/415/surf ski upwards - if you need a boat contact Gina Rogers.
gina@ginarogers.com.au
Equipment:     Life jackets are strongly recommended, helmets are not needed.
Otherwise hat, sunnies and sunscreen. Bring something for a picnic morning tea and lunch.
Experience: Must have basic skills or be an experienced paddler. Must be capable
of a 12km round trip.  All flat water.
Costs: None if just paddling and bringing your food.
If camping overnight, will have to pay for a campsite and food

Camping:  Camping will cost about $10 per person.   There are only limited camping
spots available, so first in first serve.    Some of us will drive up Saturday some
time and camp overnight at the Guilderton Caravan Park.  They also have chalets at
$70 per night for two people if you're too soft to camp.
Contact: Glenn on glenn@strategicachievement.com.au or 0418 908 555 (prefer email) -
bookings are a must for both camping and paddling
Christmas Party, Bollywood (Indian) Theme, Sat Dec 3rd, Swan Canoe Club
You should have heard the rumour by now, it's an Indian Christmas Party this
year. I am looking for volunteers to help in some small way or just e-mail
me with your ideas and suggestions for the night. We will be having a couple
of social meetings about the above. Come along to the club house on Tuesday
8th November, 7pm if you would like to help us plan this party and other
social paddling events. Social committee nights are fun nights, see you
there! Lesley.

New Year's Camp
You are invited to join other members of Swan Canoe Club on our New Year's camp.
I have booked 3 bush camping sites at Coalmine Beach Holiday & Caravan Park on
the Nornalup Inlet at Walpole between Dec 27 and January 2. Each site can fit
up to 3 x 2 person tents. So there is space for 9 single people + extra if you
are sharing a tent. The cost is $21 per night per site (that's for 2 people) +
$9/4.50 per extra adult/child.  There may be a small loading required so that
we ensure the 3 sites are secured for the whole period.
If you are not a happy camper, at the moment there are 2 cabins available for the
whole or part of that period for $100 per night for 2 to 4 people. If you are
interested in the cabin option then it's best to make the booking yourself on
9840 1026 (or 1800 670 026) and to do this early before they get booked out.
At the moment I am looking for expressions of interest in the tent sites. So please
ring me on 93353931 or 0408 766 420 or e-mail maggieo@bigblue.net.au and let me know:
1) What nights you are interested in (It's not necessary to be there for the whole time)
2) How many people are likely to be in your party.
Also let me know if you are likely to pursue the cabin option.
This is a casual camp where everybody would be responsible for their own gear and food.
Rather than organising bushwalks and paddling trips formally as club events, activities
will be organised privately, so people will have to do things at their own risk.
The camp ground is inside the Walpole-Nornalup National Park.
You can view the website on www.coalminebeach.com.au
Cheers, Maggie Orum
