Broke Inlet Trip Announced (Jan 2006)

A club paddling long weekend from Thurs to Sun (during the Australia Day holiday).  Drive up Thursday morning (about 4 _ hours from Perth).  Meet at the inlet 12 midday for lunch(Exact meeting place will be advised at briefing)

Itinery: 
Thursday : After lunch paddle (with all gear) to an island in the inlet.  Set up camp.  (Approx 5km)
Friday : On the water after breakfast.  Day paddle to the mouth of the Shannon river and back. Packed lunch, tea back at camp.  (Approx 10km) 
Saturday : Day paddle to the mouth of the inlet and back.  Packed lunch, tea back at camp.  (Approx 16km)
Sunday :  return to mainland.  (Approx 5km)

Location:    
Broke inlet is within the DÕentrecasteaux National Park and lies approximately 130klms south of Bridgetown. (About a 4 _ hr drive from Perth).   

Boats: 
Sea Kayak or kayak that can carry all necessary camping equipment, clothes, food and water.
Conditions can be windy/choppy.
Sea Kayaks may be hired from Rivergods Ð 9529 0749.

Food/equipment:   
Paddlers are responsible for their own food and drink requirements during the whole trip.  It is recommended that each person takes 5 litres of water per day. Accommodation during the trip is by camping and paddlers are responsible for all their own camping equipment. A full list of equipment to bring will be given at the briefing.

Experience:    
Must have good basic skills and be capable of a 16km round trip.  Can be windy/choppy

None. 

Briefing :
For this trip there will be a briefing/workshop run by Colin Priest. Maps/ directions will  be supplied at this time. In addition to the normal briefing Colin will be discussing/demonstrating knowledge and techniques which are particularly relevant to this trip.  Attendance at the briefing is recommended. The date of the briefing is Tuesday 17th January, time 7.30pm.
