MAINPEAK SPONSORSHIP

Mainpeak recently gave the Club five new spraydecks for our Finn 4.25m kayaks which will make them much more comfortable to paddle. A big thank you to Mainpeak!

All Club members can now enjoy the benefits of ÔMainpeak ClubÕ membership free of charge. All you need to do is show proof of SCC membership to Mainpeak staff e.g. an AC Members Card or acknowledgment of your SCC membership if you joined recently.

There will be another Òshop nightÓ at Mainpeak for SCC members early in May Ð watch this space!!

SOCIAL UPDATE

Hi everyone, special welcome to new members too! Just a look at what's coming up for us all soon. Jenn is planning a social paddle with champagne and picnic lunch in May, up the Canning River – this will be quite unique for some of us who just do Freo and Back every Tuesday from the club house! Watch out for details soon.

Augusta is full, we are all so excited about another little escape down south. Join us on the next trip if you missed this.

Next Tuesday, April 11th, 8pm we are getting together to see Malcolm's underwater Swan River pictures in the club house. Bring your own supper and drink for a social get together that night. We are getting lots of ideas happening for future presenters over Winter to make this a regular event including Tasmanian trip( Les Allen) and Fidji (Cedric)…Karijini ( that's Glenn and me)..Phil, Colin, Richard and others have all got adventures to share with us too. Don't be shy! This could be fun.

A wine tasting night! Anyone out there want to help organise this? We would be grateful of your ideas. Something to do over winter with gluwein too?! And a quiz! lhadnett@iprimus.com.au

AGM – Tuesday 16th May 2006 Swan Canoe Club – notice

Much publicised but we got to keep it in the news as we want your response, participation, ideas, energy and enthusiasm. This is the ultimate way to meet new members and get involved! Come along and volunteer and see what you can gain! Lots of us have had an awesome year of fun ( and hard work) making fab friends, seeing parts of WA we didn't know existed and learning new skills in the process. There are lots of ways you can be involved, we really do need you badly to keep the calendar going. Find out more on the night. BYO drink, shake some hands and you're off! See you there.

Friday Social Paddle Nights are coming back. 3rd Friday in the month, an alternative to the races, night paddles in the moonlight on the Swan. Watch out for details, this will be starting in May hopefully. A very special experience if you haven't been out there in the dark..it's fantastic. A still, sparkling river, at peace and with very little breeze. So lovely to be out there, perfect is all I have to say. Lesley.

OTHER NEWS

New magazines to read: a recent visitor to the Club was past Club President and Australian slalom champion Andy Griffith who now lives in Colorado (near 'real' whitewater). He has donated several years of back issues of some great paddling magazines which are on the coffee table. Many thanks Andy!
