REMINDER: Christmas Party, Awards Night & Fun Paddle – This Saturday, Dec 6th

The Christmas Party will be in two parts (paddle optional but it will be fun!):

–          5pm: Fun Paddle with prizes: not a race but you will be given tasks to complete and items to collect on a paddle down to Chidley Point (under one hour and 3km distance to fine for novices too)

–          7pm: Party and awards: bring your own food and drink, and dessert will be provided. Children are welcome, and if we know that enough are coming then Santa might make an appearance too.

We need numbers, so please email Marion (membership@swancanoeclub.org.au) if attending.

Point Walter Guided Paddle: Saturday 6th December

Start your weekend with a gentle paddle on the river from the club to Point Walter Cafe for coffe or Breakfast or just for the sheer fun of it! Please RSVP to Sarah Whittaker via sarahjwhittaker@hotmail.com . Important to RSVP or else sarah may decide to have a lie in 🙂

Garden Island Paddle Sunday December 7th

One way ro recover from the club christmas party…….
This is a 20km round trip paddle for sea kayaks, from Woodman Point to Carnac Island and then to Garden Island for lunch, before returning to Woodman Point in the afternoon. Paddlers need to be fit and have done an Introduction to Sea Kayaking or have equivalent skills. Apart from a sea worthy sea kayak there are safety requirements such as flares etc. Please contact the instructor well ahead of time to discuss this trip.

Talented Juniors head to NZ

Some of our very talented Juniors head to NZ tomorrow night to represent Australia through the National Talent Squad and we wish them the very best experience and safe paddling.

Holiday paddling

Any juniors wanting to attend holiday paddling classes with Zlatan before Christmas, we still have spaces available on Monday -Wednesday 15-17th December starting at 11:15am. Please contact Marion on 9384 1692 for more information.

Replacement of Club Boats

The replacement of our aging fleet of Club boats is one of the Committee’s priorities this year now that our bank balance has recovered from the building extension and the new ramp.  So we welcome your ideas.

Hiring of the Clubrooms

We are starting to generate some income by hiring the upstairs area for meetings, training sessions etc. Two points to consider:

–          You can help find potential customers, so please keep this in mind;

–          When the rooms is being prepared or used by others, members are not allowed upstairs, and please respect any preparations done for such occasions.
