2014 cheerio!
The SCC held its end of year party and awards night at the beginning of December, the evening kicked off with swannies paddling on the river in search of the answers to the SCC Quiz/treasure hunt, before retiring to the club house for a well earned drink and BBQ. Club President Peter Ewing reviewed the club year and handed out the awards. This year, Club Member of the year went to Geoff Palmer and Junior Paddler to Isabelle Choate.
Peter, on behalf of the club put forward thanks to the previous and current committee for their work and commitment to the club, to the Training and Development team for continuing to offer regular paddling courses and running trips. Thanks also went out to those club members who have over 2014 given their time and resources to helping build/install the ramp, which finally brings to an end the upgrading of the club facilities.
It goes to show how much the club relies on the goodwill of a constant group of club members.
Trips and Courses for Jan 2015:
If you know of anyone considering joining the club: Tuesday 6th Jan is the Club Dry Induction at 7pm, followed by the wet induction on Tuesday 13th at 6pm: Potential members must attend both to join.
Point Walter Paddle: Sat Jan 3rd. Go on kick off your year with a paddle with your fellow swannies over to point walter, topping it off with a coffee/tea and breakfast… Jen Houston is your guide, please contact her via jenniferhouston1971@gmail.com.
Broke Inlet : Friday 23rd – Mon 26th Jan: Get away from the crowds, head down south and camp and paddle the beautiful Broke Inlet. You will need to take everything with you as the camp site can only be reached by Kayak and be willing to go bush for a couple of days with no internet/3G/coffee shop in site, just scenery, good company and plenty of paddling!
