Avon Descent Meeting

Paddling the Avon Descent this year? Come along on Wednesday 15th April at 7.00pm to the Swan Canoe Club.  After this introductory talk we plan to have various experts talk each Wednesday night about diet, white water paddling and injury prevention. Contact Geoff Emery gnhemery@bigpond.net.au or call 0403 604 082 for more details.

“WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN” the Avon with Darryl Long

Come and hear Darryl Long talk about “WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN”. Darryl has paddled 33 Avon Descents and won 13! He holds the K2 record of 7hr 14 min 1996 and holds the DR record of 7hr 56min 1983.  Wednesday 22nd April 7.00pm at Swan Canoe Club.

Club Boat Identification

All Club boats now have a RED tag attached near the stern and are stored in the racks painted BLUE. So there are no excuses for using a private member’s boat.  Thankyou Andrew Maurice for doing this and bringing our asset register up to date.

Rod Fry Race – many thanks

The race was a great success with a wonderful turnout of volunteers on the day – many thanks to all who contributed.  We had nearly 50% more entries this year and the conditions were good for the paddling considering we were wondering if that threatening remnant of a cyclone would cancel the event a couple of days prior. And note that the eight craft in the new Recreational class all won prizes – so next year we expect a bigger turnout!  You can view some photos here and the results here.
