Injury Prevention Talk: Weds 6th MAy

SCC Paddlers compete in Brazil

Club News: Ramp, AGM, Junior Classes

Injury Prevention for Paddlers: Weds 6th May 7pm

This will be a very interesting and relevant talk for anyone who paddles, from Liz Lang, focusing on stretching, preparation and training without injury. This will be held at the club all are welcome! (Gold Coin Donation entry fee)

Liz’s paddling experience has been mostly through involvement at North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving club paddling single and double skis. Liz has travelled to the Australian Surf Lifesaving championships on several occasions, finding the big surf a major challenge to success. At state level Liz has won a silver medal in the Mixed Double ski event. Liz has also paddled in many multisport adventure races in both solo and team events.

Junior & U23 Slalom World Championships

Congratulations to all those from WA who travelled to Foz Do Iguazzu, Brazil for these championships including those from Swan Canoe Club. A very competitive series, Georgia Rankin got a silver medal in the U23 K1 Women’s Team Final and Demelza Wall got a Bronze Medal in the Junior C1 Women’s Team Final.

Ramp and Sand Level

Sand continues to be scoured away from under our new ramp making the step off the ramp tricky at higher tides– please exercise caution!

We are taking some temporary steps to reduce the step size and the sand removal, and are also working on a longer term solution.

AGM

We will soon be gathering for the clubs’ AGM soon, so please consider volunteering for one of the many minor roles (see the Key Contacts list on our webpage), or even joining the Committee, and help keep our Club running smoothly.
