Elva Harper-Ciciora

1749

Most of us only knew Elva for the few short years that she was a member of our club.

She took to paddling with great gusto, enjoying the many aspects of nature that can only be reached on a kayak, exploring rivers and creeks, bird watching, and drinking in the peaceful silences and sounds of nature that can only be enjoyed when one leaves the rush and tumble of life behind.

Elva had so many other interests, reading, music and the Arts as well as theatre and film. She had enjoyed a long academic and teaching career and there are many facets of her life of her life I know little about.

Even when Elva was confronted with her dreadfull diagnosis she remained positive and life affirming in her committment to continue enjoying life to the full, conducting herself with calm dignity in facing her mortality. Her paddling trips though now more difficult seemed to give her an exposure to the natural world which refreshed and renewed her spirit.

I believe that Elva would want us to remember and celebrate the many positive aspects of her life Let us remember Elva for her great sense of fun, intelligence, and zest for living. Let us admire the way in which she conducted herself with quiet dignity in coming to terms with her mortality.
We will all miss Elva's cheerful presence

Let us especially remember Terry who has been the pillar of support in Elva's life over all this time.
They had so much living to look forward to together and yet now their life together has been cut so very short.
How much more will you miss Elva?  You are very much in our thoughts Terry.
