URGENT – SCC NEEDS YOUR HELP!

1877

Unfortunately we have at late notice learnt of the following call for submissions (due 13th November 2009).

The Standing Committee on Public Administration has commenced an inquiry into Recreation Activities within Public Drinking Water Source Areas. (see ‘Other Links’ below)

We have an opportunity to change Policy 13 and get Access to Water Catchment Areas for Recreation.

It is really important that we have as many submissions as possible; highlighting problems that we’ve had in getting permission to run events for the club.

We need discussion around the concept of community rights to access land in water catchments, we need discussion around the concept of accessing some water bodies for recreation and sport and the possibility of leaving some pristine. We need discussion around the concept of a State-Wide Policy for access and the need to protect special areas. We need discussion around water treatment rather than exclusion. We need to present a united front of recreation organisations against policy 13.

WE WILL NOT GET A CHANCE LIKE THIS AGAIN.

If we get this change, it will be a fundamental restructure of the building blocks of our community, recreation, environment management and governance in WA and will effect future generations for many decades to come.

PLEASE if you have the time step forward and help us to prepare a submission. What we ideally need is a member who is able to take the lead role in submission preparation for SCC. From this hopefully we can summarise a generic submission and distribute to club members to sign individually also to make their own submissions. The more submissions we make the higher the chance of being heard.
