This course is designed for people who have some previous kayaking experience, have the ability to perform basic paddling strokes and are able to swim at least 25 meters.
This course is conducted using sit in type sea kayaks. A club sea kayak and equipment are provided.

A Swan Canoe Club Introduction to Paddling a Sea Kayak certificate will be awarded to people who have demonstrated competency in the skills required for paddling a sea kayak and a controlled wet exit wearing a spray deck.
These skills are normally a pre-requisite for easy club sea kayaking trips.
Pre-requisites: Able to swim 25 metres in paddling clothes and PFD. For juniors under 18 please email enquiry through to admin@swancanoeclub.org.au.

Pre – Whitewater Skills Training Session
When: Sunday 26th May 9.45am to 11.30am
Where: Swan Canoe Club
Who: Any club member interested in paddling whitewater
What: Training session in small whitewater slalom-type kayaks
Why: To practice paddling short whitewater kayaks
This training session is suitable for any club member who is interested in paddling
whitewater in a short slalom type kayak.
You must be confident exiting an upturned kayak while wearing a spray deck.
The session will include;
Please allow enough time to be ready with your kayak and gear by 10.00 am. There will be a short briefing before getting on the water. We should be off the water about 11.30am
If you plan to use a club boat, please make sure the footrests are adjusted correctly, and you have a good-fitting spray deck. You will also need a Euro-style paddle.

Sunday 9th June 2024 at 9am
This is an opportunity to experience some interesting parts of the Swan River. Paddling through areas that make you feel miles away from suburbia but also get spectacular views of the city skyline.
Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the lawns of the historic Tranby House in Maylands.
This paddle is suitable for all levels of paddlers that can paddle 13km on flat water.
