Friday Night Paddle Bash – 2006 SUMMER SERIES Announced

2320

A fun social night for paddlers of all levels.   A time trial paddle followed by a BBQ dinner ($4 – meat and salads provided).

Social paddlers, don’t be put off by the time trial.  This is a fun night.  Its not about winning a race (at least not for most of us), its about joining in and having some fun.  Points are given for beating your own personal best times.

And to you meat heads who just want to get in the water and paddle as fast as you can (and miss out on all the great scenery) don’t be put off by the social aspect of the night – get out there and slap each other round with your paddles.

Be ready to rumble from about 6 pm.

GREAT Prizes donated by
Mainpeak for the winners:

     ****  $300  ****

Gift Voucher for Series Winner of Each Class!
(at end of this Summer series)

And two $50 gift vouchers spot prizes EACH WEEK for paddlers and time-keepers.

There will be three different classes:

  • Plastics < 4.5 metres will start at 6.10pm each Friday  [note 3]
  • Plastics > 4.5 metres will start at 6.15pm each Friday
  • Composites               will start at 6.20pm each Friday

Points are allocated for:
– Finishing of allocated race (1 point)
– Personal best for last two time trial series only (1 point)  [note 1]
– 2 points for doing your allocated Timekeeping
– On twist night getting cross dressed or in a mixed double (1 point) [note 2]

Thus you don’t need to be state champion or to win even one race to have a good chance of taking a major prize!

Note1:  All Personal bests made before your last two paddle bash series are now not considered as your PB for this series.  So if the years have made you a bit slower and you are not likely to beat those PB’s from previous years, your problems are gone.

Note 2 : The Pros & Cons night is a mixed doubles race so dig up a double kayak or ski. Everyone is to dress up as either a Pro or a Con. If you meet one of these two principles you get one point. As always there will be a BBQ afterwards (so we can have a laugh). Best male & female costume as voted by attendees gets an extra point.

Note 3:  Plastic < 4.5 metres will do a 6 km race when 12km is allocated for the night.
