Boat usage and repair log books

1. A usage log book for members who use the club boats to log which craft they are using.

2. A repairs log book for members to write up which boats need repairs.

This will enable us to do several very useful things;

1) Gather statistics on which are the popular boats so we can arrange to purchase more of the frequently used and popular craft.
2) Gather statistics on which boats get damaged regularly and if this relates to the frequency of their usage or perhaps is a design flaw that may steer us away from re-purchase of these craft in future if they are damaged frequently but are not paddled regularly.
3) As a safety measure if members are paddling alone and haven’t returned, unlikely but good practice to have an intentions log.
These books will reside on the pedestal in the ground floor entrance area of the club, please make every effort to use them for the intended purpose so we can better service the members needs with the appropriate equipment.

Many Thanks

Rod Fry Memorial Race results posted

Preliminary results – still looking for juniors’ times.

Looking for Swannie to represent club on White Water Technical Committee

from Leonie Cockman

We would very much welcome some Swan CC reps on the White Water Technical Committee. Currently it is all AKC. Just so I don’t have too many emails to check I am using my AKC events address akcevents@gmail.com . We don’t have a website with what is involved in being a rep.

In essence we run a DR series each year and we split the race coordination between committee members, our priorities this year are to continue to increase our junior base and we are looking at running a training camp during the white water season. Terry Boland (Committee Member) has been running some flat water training sessions in preparation for the season. If anyone would like to chat about being a WW rep I would be happy to do so or any of the other committee members. my number is 041 210 1949.

Look forward to SCC possible involvement.

Kind regards,
Leonie Cockman
Chairperson WWTC

If any Swan members are interested, please contact Leonie at the email given above.

Open Day – cancellation of ‘on-water’ activities

After the Health Department news release regarding recreational activities on the Swan River after Monday’s storm we have decided that the ‘on-water’ part of the Open day should not proceed.

All other aspects of the Open Day will still go ahead.  We will run the dry inductions as planned and propose to do the follow up wet inductions through the normal monthly new member induction process.

Thanks,
Marg

If you want only a small role that is great, there are heaps of small jobs to be done before the race.
