VALE BREVIS CHOATE

Canoeing has lost a passionate paddler and a contributor to reform.

A family has lost a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather and most importantly, a Companion.

On Saturday the 2nd of April, Brevis Choate was accompanying his son in a mountain bike event, when he fell from his bike and suffered serve head injuries. The doctors of Royal Perth Hospital operated but Brevis passed on Monday afternoon.

All of our sympathy to Shirley and his Family.

Brevis was a member of Swan Canoe Club and in past years a keen long distance kayaker. Recently he has become passionate about slalom canoeing and kayak surfing. These activities always included his Family. He accompanied them on many trips as they climbed the ranks at state and national levels.

Brevis Choate was at first a board member of Canoeing WA until he stood for the Presidency. He has been the President of the Association for the last four years. Canoeing WA has lost the driving force behind the many changes that have taken place in the last years that has led our Association to be one of the leading sporting associations in Western Australia.

Brevis was one of the leading supporters of building a White Water Park here in WA. The time and energy he has put into this project is immeasurable.

He will be sadly missed by many.
