This twenty kilometre return paddle commences at Palm Beach, opposite the Rotary Park, on the Esplanade Rockingham, west of the boat ramp, between Bell and Vista St.
We travel west under the Garden Island Causeway to John Point and then south past Point Peron to Bird Island, Seal Island and the seaward side of Penguin Island.
Depending on the weather the trip may be modified. Usually after a break at Penguin Island we circumnavigate the island and head back north past Seal and Bird Island and
back to where we started at Palm Beach, usually by about 2.00pm. This trip is for sit-in sea kayaks and not sit-on kayaks or skis. There are legal safety equipment requirements
that include wearing a P.F.D, having a bailer or pump in the kayak and carrying a set of flares or a P.L.B. The club also requires you to wear a helmet when we’re near the reef.
The pre-requisite for this trip is to have done an Introduction to Paddling a Sea Kayak or have equivalent skills and be comfortable capsizing with a spray deck..
If you have concerns or questions please contact the instructor, Geoff Emery on gemry13@gmail.com or on 0403 604 082.
