Christmas Party and Awards Night – Dec 6th

Please keep Saturday evening Dec 6th free for this event – more details soon.

Tuesday Morning Paddle 11th Nov

We are attempting to initiate a Tuesday morning social paddle for those lucky enough not to have work or other commitments.  Is this you?

Then come on down this Tuesday 11 Nov at 9:30am and enjoy a paddle to Pt Walter and a coffee. Route to be determined by the paddlers on the day.

What to bring: footwear cause you can’t go in the café without footwear (thongs or booties are fine) and money to buy your beverage.

Looking for a Paddle Buddy?

We suspect there are members out there who would enjoy the club more if they could find a paddle buddy or buddies.

If this is you we need to hear from you as soon as possible.

Please email the club via membershipswan@gmail.com and tell us when would be a good time to paddle, what your paddling experience is – eg novice, paddling for about a year, experienced.

And what sort of a buddy you are looking for – eg similar ability, training partner, male or female etc.

Committee News

We now have a more complete committee with the welcomed additions of Kerry Hughes as Vice President and Donna Mak as Membership Officer – many thanks!

Bay to Beach Volunteers Needed

Canoeing WA is running the Mosman Bay to Cottesloe Beach race on Dec 14th and needs a few additional helpers for jobs like registration, spotting etc.  Please email CWA if you can help: rosalie.evans@paddle.org.au

Osprey Chicks

Some eagle-eyed members have been watching ‘our’ nest, about 200m south of the Club, for some weeks, and have just observed that 3 chicks are being raised, with little heads starting to pop up over the edge of the nest. Flying lessons will start soon – well worth watching, normally during a strong easterly wind to allow them to float above the nest .

Forthcoming events:

  • 9 Nov – Introduction to Paddling a Sea Kayak
  • 12 Nov – Skills Training
  • 12 Nov – May 2015 Sea Kayaking Trip Meeting
  • 16 Nov – Penguin Island Paddle
